Cette journée nous conduit vers l’ouest du massif ruiniforme, où la gorge de la rivière Sakamaly entaille profondément la roche. Traversée des Sakasaka pour rejoindre la gorge grandiose de Sakapaly

Après quelques heures de marche dans la savane, nous atteignons une zone tourmentée : les sakasaka, véritables labyrinthes de failles et crêtes. Ce cheminement sinueux mène à la faille majeure de Sakapaly, qui s’ouvre vers l’est du massif. Les panoramas à 360° révèlent canyons, sommets et pénéplaines. En fin de journée, nous installons le bivouac dans une vaste vallée arborée, sur un sable blanc immaculé.

Randonnée vers Manampanda, toujours plus au nord

Notre caravane progresse dans les falaises avant d’atteindre une faille étroite couverte de pandanus, palmiers et fougères, menant au bassin hydrographique de Manampanda. La marche se fait les pieds dans l’eau, au milieu d’une végétation luxuriante, où lémuriens et crocodiles laissent leurs traces. Bois pétrifiés témoignent d’une forêt fossile précieuse pour la science. Enfin, nous établissons le bivouac sur une belle plage de sable au bord de la rivière.

À la découverte du nord du Makay, à pied

Guidés par la rivière Manampandana, nous progressons une heure avant de gagner le plateau et rejoindre la ligne de crête menant aux villages Bara, au nord du Makay. L’après-midi, nous atteignons Tsiazorambo où nos véhicules nous attendent. Ce périple inédit s’achève dans la convivialité : voyageurs, porteurs, pistard, guide et équipe logistique célèbrent ensemble la joie d’avoir partagé cette aventure unique au cœur du somptueux massif du Makay.

De la piste à la route, direction Hautes Terres

Après le petit déjeuner, nous plions les tentes et saluons porteurs et pisteurs. Les 4x4 reprennent la piste nord pour rejoindre Malaimbandy, puis la nationale 34 jusqu’à Miandrivazo. Dans l’après-midi, nous poursuivons vers Antsirabe, capitale du Vakinankaratra. Cette étape marque la fin de la journée, après un long trajet reliant savane, pistes et routes, et nous rapproche des Hautes Terres, dernière destination de ce périple.

Fin de périple : retour à la capitale et vol pour Paris

La matinée débute par un tour de ville et la visite d’artisans locaux, spécialisés dans les miniatures et le travail de la corne de zébu. Puis, route vers Ambatolampy à travers rizières et villages typiques des Hautes Terres. L’après-midi, continuation vers Antananarivo avec, si le temps le permet, une halte au marché artisanal. En soirée, transfert à l’aéroport et assistance pour l’embarquement sur le vol retour vers Paris.
